MY TSC EXPERIENCE

To God be the glory both now and forever more. Amen

It is said that anything that has a beginning must surely have an ending. Just like yesterday when I assumed office as an industrial trainee in an ICT organisation. Only felt it was going to last for a very short while but there is this popular saying “Man proposes; while God disposes.” An industrial attachment meant to last for only 5 months resulted to a short but long attachment spanning for 9 – 10 months no thanks to the 4 months nationwide strike of the Academic staff union of University (ASUU). One thing that struck me is that even after 9 months of attachment, it still looks as if I have just spent a week because I just keep enjoying every moment, every minutes, every hour, and every day as it passes by here in this company.

I could remember vividly the last few weeks in school after my first semester examination. I was already being sorted after by GTBank. In fact, I was on their top most wanted list. Back then in school, I receive phone calls day after day on when I was going to resume work let aside theose calls received before the interview. As a well-grounded “ chap ” from the great Obafemi Awolowo University, Department of Computer Science and Engineering; I taught I was already guaranteed a placement in the Information Technology (I.T) department of GTBank at the head office only to get to Lagos and was posted to the Transaction(Teller) Department। The first 2 days were quite difficult for me considering the nature of my job and the challenges it entails. I was always carrying money to and from the bulk room on daily basis.

To my greater disbelieve which even till this moment I still find hard to understand. The third day was my last day in the bank. It was all over. “ I had to throw in the towel ”. I resigned and decided to go in search of a more knowledge-based placement. According to this believe of mine that “ God doesn’t call the qualified, but he qualify those he call. ” within the next 72 hours, I secured a placement at The Source Computers (TSC) to make it more serious, that of a System Engineer when I had no qualification whatsoever. Although I once had worked with the company sometimes in the past precisely year 2006. But it was now a new setting quite different from what it was. I got this placement because I resolved never to settle for less in my life; I go for the better because at the time I was in the bank, the bank seemed to be the best placement but there was a better place TSC.

TSC is a growing information technology company in Nigeria with two offices nationwide located in Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria. The company provides Sales, Support, and Consultancy services in the area of Information Communication and Technology (ICT). Since its inception about 6 years ago, the company has been able to explore the ICT world with its partnership and service rendered to major oil and gas companies, manufacturing companies, banking industries amongst others.

The first few weeks of my assumption of duty was a little difficult but I got myself accustomed with things within the first month after which I started working on my own, going to customer’s site to resolve computer related issues and at the same time learning day after day. I was also; with the help of my project co-ordinator, able to lead the project team on various occasions to accomplish a given task. One thing that really worked for me was the nature of people that were working with me. My colleagues were all goal oriented individuals who had an eye for success, improvement, and innovations. They also helped me to discover some hidden potentials in me.

In conclusion, the entire period of my attachment have really been a time to cherish; the tempting times, the challenging periods, the periods when I celebrate my successes and even those period I don’t eat either Breakfast or Lunch because I was trying to solve a particular computer problem. All well and good, it has been fun for me because I must say; I really truly gained a lot that cannot be quantified. It is touching that I am leaving the company; and I know I am leaving on a high note because I got my first set of certifications here in this company.

At some point in life, one needs to move ahead and face some stiffer challenges so as to develop and be productive in life. I leave the company with some wonderful memories and also with this parting words: “ All smiles, we will be all smiles; when we are together again, we will be all smiles.”At this juncture, I say thanks you, thanks you for the love, care, and understanding. Thanks for all, far too kind.

Adios!!!

MAKING THE BEST OUT OF OUR FAILURES
In the presence of God, there is fullness of joy. On this note I welcome you to this blog. As you join me in exploring the world of possibilities, permit me to go spiritual today because it is from the spiritual that the physical transcends. In the scriptures; gospel of Luke(5:1-11). Where Jesus was at the lake of Gennesaret with the crowd pressing round him. Further into this passage we would come across the event which was the centre of this passage of the bible. There were some fishermen in person of Simon Peter, James and John(Sons of Zebedee) who were Simons’ partners. They have been in the cold on the water all night trying to catch fish; so as to be able to feed their families. Simon Peter and his companions had done their best. They had fished all night but had caught nothing; all their time and effort had been for nothing. They were now tired and dispirited as they watched their nets.

It is possible to do ones best, yet at the end of the day (or night) to have nothing to show for it, nothing really but weariness, anguish, and wounds. One might study hard for an exam, yet not get the desired results. One might work hard, I mean really dedicated to his/her job in a company, yet he/she is not recognized or commended. One might play ones heart out, yet lose the match. One might do ones best to be a good parent, yet a child goes wrong. Jesus did not blame Peter and his companions. But he didn’t encourage them to bask in the euphoria of self-pity either. Nor did he allow them to rest in failure. He challenged them to try again: “Launch out into the deep, and let down our net for a catch”.

According to the words of the great scholar; Emerson: he said: Each of us have a greater possibility”. There is in each of us a chamber, or a closet that has never been opened. If we are to realise this “greater possibility”, we need to be challenged to go beyond ourselves, beyond what we think we are capable of, what we have settled for, and most especially beyond what we think our neighbours can do for us. Nobody is an Island of knowledge. Life is a school where every student keeps learning.

Imagine a mechanic from across the road goes to a tailor’s shop and begins to dish out instructions to the Tailor on how to measure a cloth, will the tailor welcome him? No, he may even abuse him saying he does not know what he is talking about. The same will happen if a farmer tried to tell a mason how to go about his work.
A nurse would be very surprised, and probably annoyed too, if a market woman tells her how to give injections. And a Typist would not agree to be advised by a hairdresser. This is how things are, each work has its skills. In this passage of the scriptures, we saw a carpenter who is also a preacher dishing out instructions and advising a fisherman how to go about his job. Put yourself in the fisherman’s shoe, how would you react? That is to show that failure is not falling down, but staying down. The person who can draw strength from failure is quite rare. Jesus called the apostles not to serve him, but to serve others.

In conclusion, I urge you today, never let your disappointment materialise into self pity because surely if it does, you are on the verge of failing. See your Disappointment as Encouragement. Failure is nothing but an assurance of being able to succeed. See your Failure as stepping stone to excel in life. Nothing good comes cheap, little wonder the rose flower, as lovely as it is; is surrounded with thorns.

Until I come your way again to fulfil my promise with you, keep living your dreamz.

VISIONARY LEADER

I remember vividly the words of Malcolm X; the then secretary to the nations of Islam during the reign of Jeremiah Shabbaz. Malcolm X pointed out that; to be a Leader, one has to be a servant. Who then is a Leader you may ask?. According to the law of reciprocity; one can deduce that a Leader is a Servant and a Servant is a Leader.

As individuals who are purposeful and goal oriented. To be able to command respect; you have to be a servant leader. A servant leader is one who in spite of his/her managerial position and pedigree will come down to the level of his staffs and younger colleagues who work with him, and will liaise with them. A leader leads by example, he/she is goal oriented, positive in approach, has mildest touch to everything he/she and above all a real good visionary.

A visionary Leader will always foresee problems even before they emanate. He/she has solutions to those problems when they eventually occur. A visionary Leader will always manage his/her resources well. He/she is always ready and alert for economic crisis and recession before they emerge. He/she is the strength of others when they are weak. Always sort after everywhere he/she goes because he leave an indelible mark behind. Come to think of it, the greatest Leaders of this world who have died and even living at present are all visionary men and women.

Mahatma Gandi; the Indian revolutionary man, foremost philanthropist, charismatic and enigmatic leader fought all his life for the emancipation of his people and he succeeded. People like Bill gate, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Thomas Edison amongst others were successful because they saw something that every other person in their time could not see. They widened their horizon, and found themselves in a world of their own. They came, they saw, and they conquered. After all, the only difference between the “extraordinary” and the “ordinary” remains that “extra” bite, effort, focus, hard work, tenacity, and the never say die spirit.

I have come to realize that there are 4 classes of Leaders in the world today. I depict it in the chart shown below;

Can Lead

Can’t Mange

Can’t Lead

Can Manage

Can Lead

Can Manage

Can’t Lead

Can’t Manage

Now ask yourself where do I belong? Or where do I want to belong? I don’t want to start placing various leaders in this chart, but you can do that at your leisure time and make a decision where you deserve to be. Yu could ponder over this for a long time and still won’t find your way through except your mindset is stationed on d the foundation of success. Thoughts not put into action is like a foundation not developed; it remains valueless and keeps ageing with time.

Bring out the best in yourself!!!. Challenge yourself and resolve to be the best in all you do. A failure is nothing but a delayed success only if you recognize that you are on the path to getting that thing. All you need is an “EXTRA” attention. Think and Grow rich. Think and think fast; because a lot of people are already thinking in that same direction only that you are opportune to start it before them.

In conclusion, I urge you today; take that step, learn something new today. Aspire to be the best. See yourself in that car you have always dreamt of. See yourself in that dream home of yours. See your company at that apex you have always loved to reach. See yourself in that position, in control of that wealth. Take the giant stride today, so that your aspirations of today would inspire someone tomorrow. Tito Marshal once said “ ...there is something better than the best”. Long for that thing!!!

Until I come your way to fulfil my promise with you. Keep living your dreams...

Identify your Potentials, Grab that opportunity...

IDENTIFY YOUR POTENTIALS, Grab that Opportunity...

A brand new day, it’s another day to fulfil God’s plan and desire for your life. It’s another chance to take a step closer to your dream. I welcome you all, join me as I fulfil my promise to take to move you closer to your desired career.

In Life, the greatest gift a man should appreciate is the “gift of Life”. This gift remains the only asset that acquires every other assets; that is why once this asset is lost, it is never regained in it mortal nature. Hence, according to the law of proportionality, the greatest thanks or appreciation a man can show to the one who gave this “Life” is to thank him for this rare “Gift” as each second, each minute and each hour passes by.

Recognising the purpose why the gift is given to us, remains the only path to success. In the scriptures, the word of God made it clear that ”everything God created was to serve a particular purpose, and the purpose is for Good”. To have a fulfilling career, one have to be observant. By the word “observant”, I mean you have to be careful enough to be able to identify your potentials. God has given different gift to different individuals(cor.12:4-11). The fact that everybody will be successful in life is a bitter Lie. But the fact that your destiny of your future lies in your hands is nothing but the bitter truth. You have the key to your future right in your hands. You can decide to guide it jealously or lose it carelessly.

As a Christian , I came to realize that God has given me all the tools I need to succeed in all my undertaken. The Lord has a name for every situation. The scriptures likened him to every being....(Isa. 9:6) ... he is known as the mighty God; ...the son of man (likened to human being)(matt. 8:20); ...the Lion of the tribe of Judah (likened to animals)(John 1:29); ...the true vine, ...rose of Sharon, ...the lily of the valley (likened to plants) (John 15:1). With all this assurance, nothing, I repeat nothing can harm me.

When Daniel was thrown into the Lion’s den, considering how hungry the Lions were. Immediately he entered the den, the Lions saw Daniel no longer in his mortal form but they saw something higher than them in every ramification The Lion of the Tribe of Judah”. Therefore, so as not to bore you with the scripture, I encourage you today to “...live your dream”, make use of every little opportunity before you. That career, that future that you have always hoped for; envision it, feel it, and it will surely come to reality. Not everybody had the opportunity you are having at this moment. So, take charge of the moment, seize the “second” and don’t let the opportunity pass you by. It might just be the turning point you have been waiting for.

An American scholar was said “...if you have a goal; dream it, feel it, let it drive you in every way possible, allow it to fuel you working thoughts and let nothing stand in your path of achieving it”. So what are you waiting for?... Grab that opportunity now!!! It’s yours...

Until I come your way to fulfil my promise with you, keep living your dreamz...

What will you be remembered for?

Good day my fellow career conscious colleagues, I welcome you to this newly opened blogspot. I make a promise to you today; that I will ensure that every article posted and that will be posted on this blog space will be the one that will take you an inch towards actuallizing your long future goals and the lead you to a fulfilling career.

I once read one of Napoleon Hills book; a particular caption I saw that moment has been a fuel that has since been propelling me; like a atomic bomb thrusted into space. It read " If you want a goal badly, dream like, feel it, and let it drive you in everything you do, and let nothing stand in your way of achieving it". This made me remember the great " Thomas Edison ", who invented the incandescent light and electric bulb. Thomas Edison was once an office assistant in his country of birth. But his desire to be the best, his determination to achieve greater height even amidst his disappointments.

When Thomas Alva Edison died some years back, the United State of America observe a minute silence around the whole country, not only did they do that, they adorned Edison by Switching down all power station in the country and ensuring that there was a total black-out in the whole of America for that minute, just to salute a great stateman, and inventor, and a record breaker for impacting not only his generation but even generations coming behind. The world today and generations yet unborn will always remember Thomas Alva Edison for his courage, determination, zeal, humility, tenacity, and spirited vision. Cheers I say to a man I will one day want to achieve more than he has achieved... The question I pose to you today is : What will you be remembered for???...

I leave you with that to answer...... until I come back to further fulfill my mission with you..... I saw keep living you dream and if you have not started, I saw to you START LIVING YOU DREAM....

Adios!!!
